Craftsman North is Hiring a Human Resources Generalist Near Ceres, CA

The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for providing services and support in multiple functional areas of Human Resources for a multi-state division within a private company. This position will be in Ceres, CA and will both support the HR functions for our California, Arizona, and Utah locations for the west coast states for one division of our company (additional locations may be added in the future), while also working on HR tasks that support our corporate office initiatives for our other locations and divisions. This position will have a direct report to the HR Director in St. Louis, MO, and an indirect report to the Division's Regional General Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides guidance to division's management, support staff and production workers in the handling of employee relations issues, staffing, and recruiting.
  • Remain current with local, state, and federal HR laws, legislation, and trends, and maintain compliance in each location.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process for each location and ensure company practices such as background checks are followed.
  • Oversee and administer the onboarding of all new employees, such as new employee orientation, explanation of benefits, explanation of company policies, practices, and procedures, and verifying I-9.
  • Administer the Performance Management and Review process in partnership with Corporate HR and management for each location.
  • Oversee and administer payroll for each division location, including reviewing time and attendance records for completeness and accuracy for payroll.
  • Provide support on various employee benefit programs where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee and benefit information in the HR systems by processing all new hire information, status changes, salary changes, garnishments, and terminations. Ensure data integrity.
  • Manage leave and paid time off processes in the HR systems, such as vacation/PTO, bereavement, sick, and leave of absences.
  • Prepare required daily, monthly, quarterly, annual reports, and specialized reports as requested.
  • Assist with compensation and benefits planning and administration including coordination of annual open enrollment.
  • Assist in development of local personnel policies and procedures and maintain the associate handbooks for each location.
  • Working with facility leadership and Corporate HR, oversee and administer safety initiatives to ensure compliance with state, location, and industry specific guidelines. Advise facilities of changes and updates to ensure compliance and employee training.
  • Assist in creation of new employee job descriptions and maintain current job descriptions.
  • Assist in the administration of workers' compensation claims.
  • Ensures diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects: by race, ethnicity, gender, and gender identity. Administer company-wide training initiatives at division locations.
  • Assist with special HR projects as needed.
  • Perform other HR duties as assigned by management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Ability to travel to all facilities at least once per quarter
  • Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal laws pertaining to HR required
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Must exercise the highest level of confidentiality and integrity
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Must be detail-oriented, possess a high degree of accuracy and work well under pressure

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor's degree in Business or HR Management and a minimum of five years of HR experience; or
  • Five to seven years HR experience in a manufacturing environment
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
